What got you into politics?

24 years ago when I first started we had 2 daughters in elementary school and wanted to contribute towards their education in this fashion.  Today I believe public service is a privilege that I enjoy, so I continue to help out in ways as varied as leadership of a school division to picking up almost 70,000 lbs of garbage off the streets these past 3 years.

What experience will you bring to compliment your role as (Mayor / Councillor / School Trustee)?

In my 20 years of service I have chaired all standing committees and the results of the work of our team have been recognized by many as exceptional (i.e.  I have chaired employee negotiations the past 2 years and RETSD has now been given 2 of the 14 management positions dealing with the negotiations of a new provincal wide teacher’s contract although there were 37 divisions to select from).

What are some issues that you would like to stand for in your role as (Mayor / Councillor / School Trustee), and why are these issues important to you?

RETSD has space problems with a growing student population.  We lost a school over a year ago to a fire and it will not be returning for at least another year.  We need to add a new building soon.  I will continue to work with the government of Manitoba to see this happen.

Do you have any other comments regarding your candidacy?

I am the only experienced trustee people can vote for in Ward 2.   I have no conflicts of interest and I have demonstrated a significant commitment for 2 decades.
