Idris Adelakun - Mayoral Candidates
What got you into politics?
I want a City that works for everyone. We have the resources, but we need to use the resources for the benefit of all. I see an opportunity for an improvement on social issues, crime prevention and control, business, infrastructure and the environment in Winnipeg.
I want to set measurable goals with strict timelines in addressing homelessness, addiction, mental health, poverty, provide affordable housing, boost safety, and create opportunities while sustaining our City.
What experience will you bring to compliment your role as (Mayor / Councillor / School Trustee)?
I am a professional engineer, certified professional in engineering management, and a certified project manager. I completed a Ph.D. in leadership – organizational management. I really know how to listen, collaborate, and engage with others.
My skills are transferable to the city’s top political gig. I’ve been managing projects, managing people, and managing teams. I always lead the way for others. I believe that with all those experiences I’ve acquired, when I win the election, I’ll be able to apply my skills to move Winnipeg to an enviable height.
What are some issues that you would like to stand for in your role as (Mayor / Councillor / School Trustee), and why are these issues important to you?
I want to be a voice for everyone. I want to address social issues/crime, business, infrastructure and the environment. I want to end homelessness in Winnipeg. Everyone deserves to live in a house. These issues are important because they will make everyone feel at home.
Do you have any other comments regarding your candidacy?
When I assume office, I promise accountability, transparency, fairness, equity, and honesty. I will inspect projects and engage with Winnipeggers regularly. My word is my bond!
