What got you into politics?

I love politics. I wanted to be more involved as a public servant. Running as a candidate for school trustee seemed like a good direction to head.

 

What experience will you bring to compliment your role as (Mayor / Councillor / School Trustee)?

I am a problem solver willing to look at all sides and view points. I have always volunteered in the schools my children have attended. I was involved with PAC at the last school my children attended. I plan to start those meetings as my kids school currently does not have a parent council. I am an open communicator, willing to listen, and I am a strong advocate for all people in our community. I believe that public education should be a safe place for all teachers, school employees, but especially our children. After all they are our future leaders.

What are some issues that you would like to stand for in your role as (Mayor / Councillor / School Trustee), and why are these issues important to you?

Issues I stand for are as follows:

Inclusion of ALL children.

Open door policy at board meetings which allows community members in attendance.

To have all parents, educators and learners have their voices heard.

Transparency.

Honesty.

Stronger antibullying policies

Review of current budget.

Review of safe and active transportation for students in our community.

Invest in building maintenance & HVAC

Accountability.

New changes and ideas.

Do you have any other comments regarding your candidacy?

As a part of my campaign it is to be available to all community members. I would like to encourage sending emails or  phone calls to ask me appropriate questions pertaining to my role as school trustee.
