Chris Broughton - Winnipeg - 2

Why did you decide to run in the 2018 (Winnipeg Civic Election / School Board Election)?

Chris Broughton was raised in a family that instilled strong values of public service. Chris and his wife, Tashina, an early years teacher, have made the Lord Roberts-Riverview community home for 15 years. They have 2 children, both attending École Riverview School. As a family they enjoy many sports and activities. For more than 15 years, Chris has served Manitobans as a paramedic and a health and injury prevention advocate. Chris has previously served as the president of Paramedics of Winnipeg, representing paramedics and advocating for improved health outcomes for the city’s residents. It is this advocacy that lead to the introduction of legislation to ensure access to defibrillators in public venues. As a Trustee, Chris has championed safe and inclusive schools and led the implementation of a Math task force to ensure all students succeed in Math. Chris was elected to serve many WSD board and stakeholder committees. He has served as the Chair of Finance since 2015 and was elected as Vice-Chair of the board since 2016.
