Questionnaire Response

Steven Minion - Charleswood - Tuxedo

What got you into politics?

For many years I have had a deep desire to live in an enlightened, sustainable and self sufficient society, and on New Years 2020, I experienced a vision of Winnipeg being the first city on Earth to announce PEACE has been achieved. I became socially active, participating in many different organizations bringing awareness and possible solutions to the complex issues that are stopping us from achieving peace sustainably. I see running for civic office as a next step to advocate for and implement social innovation to Localize Our Economy, Socialize Our Community, Evolutionize Our Environment and Enlighten Humanity!

What experience will you bring to compliment your role as (Mayor / Councillor / School Trustee)?

I am very creative, open minded and solution oriented. Playing a leadership role in the construction industry for 10 years, I have successfully led teams to complete projects on time and on budget while solving complex issues in creative ways and having a good time doing it. I have participated in and led many community development projects and volunteered in many events that have given me good experience working in many different groups. I carry a positive attitude and am an equal opportunity team player, playing the role of leader and the role of being led whenever needed.

What are some issues that you would like to stand for in your role as (Mayor / Councillor / School Trustee), and why are these issues important to you?

Localize our Economy: The further globalization of our economy is unsustainable both environmentally and economically; by increasing the property and business tax to globalizing businesses who’s owner’s do not live here, we can fund local businesses, social enterprises and non profit organizations for solutions to the problems created by global monopolies.

Socialize our Community: The further individualization and disconnection of our community is unsustainable socially and culturally; by increasing our connections with neighbourhood watch programs, localized directories and community events we can see an enhancement in the safety and well being of our city.

Evolutionize our Environment:  The further pollution of our environment is unsustainable and not okay. By increasing our awareness of our interconnection with all that is and learning what strengthens and weakens our biology so that we can naturally begin making decisions that are good for us all.

Do you have any other comments regarding your candidacy?

I Believe We Can Create a Winnipeg that inspires the world into sustainable peace. Through public education of personal empowerment, community leadership, environmentalism, and humanism, we can enhance the health of our entire biology & our social human needs!
